Sony has confirmed that, even if Uncharted 4 PlayStation 4 director Justin Richmond has left developer Naughty Dog, work on the game hasn't been impacted at all.

Naughty Dog is one of Sony's biggest and most talented internal teams, producing stellar hits for the PS3 like The Last of Us or the Uncharted series.

Unfortunately, in recent weeks, two massive departures have shaken the studio.

First up, Uncharted writer and creative director Amy Hennig left amidst rumors of hostility against The Last of Us creators Neil Druckman and Bruce Straley.

Yesterday, Uncharted 4 game director Justin Richmond confirmed that he was leaving Naughty Dog and going to work at League of Legends developer Riot Games.

Now, Sony has issued a statement about Uncharted 4 and the recent situation at Naughty Dog to GameInformer.

"SCEA can confirm Justin Richmond has left Naughty Dog to pursue other opportunities," the Sony representative said. "The development timeline of Uncharted will not be impacted."

Even if Sony begs to differ, it's hard to believe that any game's development isn't the tiniest bit affected when both the main writer and director leave the project right in the middle of the creation process.

As of yet, it's unclear who is now leading the work on Uncharted 4.
