Developer Naughty Dog has unveiled some technical details about its upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief's End action adventure game, confirming that the title is running at a 1080p native resolution on the PS4 and that it's targeting a 60fps framerate, although it's way too early to tell how the game will perform when it appears for the console next year.

Sony's E3 2014 press conference was filled with big announcements, and by far the most important exclusive was Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, which has received a touching trailer and a 2015 release period.

From what was revealed in the trailer, it seems that franchise protagonist Nathan Drake is once again teaming up with longtime partner Sully for one last score.

Developer Naughty Dog took to the PS blog to offer more details, starting first with the technical ones about the performance of Uncharted 4 on the PS4.

According to Community Strategist Eric Monacelli, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End will run at a full HD native resolution of 1080p and the studio wants to couple that with a 60fps framerate, although it's still too early to say how the game will handle on the new Sony console. Even so, major improvements have been recorded in terms of character model quality.

"That’s Nathan Drake rendered in full 1080p glory, using the power of our PS4 engine. All footage you see in the trailer was captured completely in engine. We’re targeting 60fps for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and as you can see, the visual fidelity for our character models will reach new heights," he said.

"In fact, thanks to the power of PS4, right now Drake’s Uncharted 4 model is over double the polygons of Joel from The Last of Us PS3."

The studio has also offered a few more details about the new adventures awaiting Nathan Drake, and it seems that this time around the loveable protagonist will go on an epic quest that will test his limits, both physical and mental.

"The next generation of Nathan Drake is going to be very real and will explore what it means when Drake is forced back into the world of thieves. He will embark on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure," Monacelli added.

"It’s his greatest adventure yet and will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he’s willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves."

Naughty Dog will offer way more details about Uncharted 4: A Thief's End in the following months, according to the studio, so expect to hear more probably in August at the Gamescom 2014 event.
