The PlayStation 3 is slowly but surely getting quite a few high-end exclusives, the likes of Resistance 2 or Killzone 2 in the last months. But one title that really made people aware of the graphical power of the console is Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, coming from the Naughty Dog studio.

Now, as the company is polishing up the second title in the franchise, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, the team showed off a few demo levels during GamesCon, which was held last week in Cologne, Germany. In between demonstrating how Nathan Drake passed through some intense adventures in the icy realms of Tibet and other territories, the spokesperson for the company, Arne Myer, revealed a few interesting things about it.

“I think gamers are going to notice that it's going to be a little more action packed,” Myer said. “There's a little more tension, a little more action behind everything Nathan Drake does.” He also highlighted that the studio wanted to create a game with a bigger and broader scope than the original, but one that would still keep focus on Nathan Drake: “We thought about whether we could have cooperative in the game. But the game is really centered around Nathan and his personality. It didn't really make sense to do coop.”

Then Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells answered a question regarding the fact that Uncharted was slowly becoming very similar to Eidos' Tomb Raider series, as it placed a bigger emphasis on puzzle solving. “Our goal with Uncharted 2 was to make a balanced game that encompasses a diverse mix of gameplay from gun combat, hand to hand melee, puzzle solving, traversing, exploring, and vehicle sections,” Wells said. “That's what makes it an action/adventure game, which I think it the better label to use for the 60/40 split… 60% action, 40% adventure.”

So there you have it Uncharted fans, things will get more exciting in this new iteration of the franchise. Look forward to October when it will be released exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
