Not too many people are aware of the fact that there is an entire current or trend, whatever you want to call it, that focuses on making small technological demos that have to show off the programming skills of the developers. The history is quite fuzzy on how this all began, but their starting point is very closely related with the cracking scene and I’m sure most of you (not me) can remember those small .exe files that could be found with the cracked versions.

Over the years, these small .exes have become stars themselves and in the last years the demo scene has almost broken apart from the warez one. This meant that the programmers could direct their entire attention entirely on developing
these beauties and soon after, the first really interesting demos have begun to emerge and from this bunch the most interesting were by far the 64 kb ones. No one could comprehend how they can fit so much information in such a small container and further more with music on top of it. Make anyone wonder, what are those multi millions dollar game producers are doing with games that need DVD9 and Blue-Ray discs. It’s true that this environment wasn’t giving players the possibility of actually playing it and were most comparable with rolling demos (if you ever came across one).

One of the best teams out there is farbrausch 2.0 and they were expected to deliver something soon, but no one imagined what they have had done. The demo is simply mind-blowing, so I recommend that everyone gets a seat and some popcorn. This beats any night out at the movies (even if it’s just about 7 minutes long).

The demo can be found HERE but there is a small warning attached to it. Not all of you will meet the recommended requirements so I’ve attached the Youtube version.
