Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has been long rumored to plan the release of a powerful successor for its HTC One smartphone, and the device appears to have already emerged in the AnTuTu benchmark.

The unannounced handset was spotted there with model number HTC 0P6B120 attached to it, Blog of Mobile reports. However, the phone is rumored to arrive on shelves as HTC M8.

The device managed to score no less than 36,532 points in the benchmark, but there’s no telling on whether the result was altered in any way, and we’ll take the info with a grain of salt for the time being.

On the other hand, as PhoneArena notes, HTC could pack the device with a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 processor, which could explain its high performance in AnTuTu.

Previous reports on the HTC M8 have also suggested that it will arrive on the market with a 5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD 1080p resolution, which will make it a tad larger than the HTC One is.

Furthermore, the mobile phone is expected to run under Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, with a new flavor of HTC’s own user interface loaded on top, namely HTC Sense 6.0.

No other details on this smartphone are known at the moment, but chances are that HTC will release it with an UltraPixel camera on the back, the same as it did with HTC One, One mini and One max before it.

Other high-end hardware might also be included in the package, considering that the mobile phone should become the next flagship Android smartphone from HTC.

There’s no official confirmation on any of the above for the time being, but it might not be too long before HTC makes the device official (the first quarter of the next year appears to be the lucky timeframe for enthusiasts), so stay tuned to learn more on the matter.
