Back in June, the paparazzi spotted actress Uma Thurman and director Quentin Tarantino out on a dinner date together. Since they are longtime friends, nothing seemed out of the ordinary; after all, if you can't have dinner with friends, who can you hang out with? The twist in the tale came at the end of the date, when Uma and Quentin shared a kiss.

The kiss made headline news the following day and, as expected, led to numerous speculations that Uma and Quentin, the old friends, had taken their friendship to a new level. Since then, there has been total silence from both of them and a certain state of uncertainty.

In a recent interview with Vs. Magazine quoted by Daily Mail, Uma Thurman finally decided to speak about the incident and let the world know what was really going on between her and Tarantino.

She begins with a joke, “I was discussing [the rumors] with Mr Tarantino last night. He was angry at me for not calling him back because as he said, ‘According to the papers we are practically married!’ and he laughed hysterically.”

Then she goes on to explain that there is really nothing between her and the legendary director apart from a long-standing friendship, “So our relationship is pretty much what it's always been; people are just having fun with it. I think media is part of the career of an actor. There is no career for an actor who is in some way not in the media, unless they are unsuccessful.”

It's good to see an actor who admits the huge role media plays in show-business in general. Usually, actors slander and belittle all media, thus failing to recognize that many owe their careers to precisely the thing they hate the most.

Uma has been in this business long enough to be aware of certain things, and it seems that she's mature enough to understand that media attention comes with the territory for an actor. She goes on to address her long acting hiatus.

“I've kind of been on a hiatus for a while, and I just started getting back to work right now. I had a baby and I also wanted to take a step back, and so I did. I think it's important to have this time to take a step back, analyze things and just breathe,” Thurman concludes.

There is no word on whether Thurman, an usual Tarantino collaborator (“Pulp Fiction,” “Kill Bill”) is going to land a role in his upcoming western project “The Hateful Eight.” So far, the only female actor that's been linked with the project is Jennifer Lawrence.
