Higher-end configurations also on their way

There seems to be a very strong interest in ultra-thin laptops lately. Though such machines weren't very popular until late last year, the new generation of CPUs from both Intel and AMD has somehow succeeded in turning slim notebooks into worthwhile investments once again. The previous generation of CPUs was unable to provide a satisfactory level of performance and the battery life benefit was often not enough to offset this drawback. Acer, like its peers, likely hopes that its newer inventions don't suffer from the same failings.

Among the latest ultrathins that Acer spawned is the Aspire One 753, a model whose hardware configuration is centered on an Intel central processing unit. The exact chip used goes by the name of Celeron U3400 and has a clock speed of 1.06GHz. This CPU is backed up by 2GB of RAM and Intel integrated graphics.

The notebook has 250GB of storage space, provided by a hard disk drive, whereas a multi-card reader and USB ports make sure that photos, videos or music are easily copied to and from the system. As for connectivity and I/O, the PC maker threw in Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, a CrystalEye webcam and, of course, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi.

All of the above electrical parts are somehow packed inside a super-slim frame with a LED-backlit LCD whose diagonal measure 11.6 inches. All in all, the product weighs 1.4kg, is just about 1-inch thick and still manages to integrate a 6-cell battery.

The Acer Aspire One 753 has already been listed in European stores, with a quite approachable price of roughly 450 Euro. Red, black, brown and silver color options are available, all pre-loaded with the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. Finally, according to Notebook Italia, higher-end configurations of this very same machine will eventually show up, with up to 4GB of RAM and 640GB of storage.
