Samsung's model wasn't about to stay unchallenged

If you were wondering how it was possible for Samsung to release a 34-inch ultra widescreen monitor without LG doing the same just days before or after, you don't have to wonder anymore.

While the curved display isn't something that you'll see often, LG does intend to provide UHD monitors with 3440 x 1440 resolution.

And to set them apart from the competition, LG plans to outfit them with support for AMD FreeSync technology.

FreeSync is an alternative to NVIDIA G-Sync, capable of matching the monitor refresh rate to the frame rate of the GPU, eliminating screen tearing, lag or artifacts.

There will be one LG UHD monitor with the aforementioned resolution: one with a diagonal of 34 inches.

Both have 10-bit color per channel and a low latency of under 5ms, or screen response time as it is otherwise known. Considering that LG intends to use IPS technology, that's a very good figure.

We're not sure how much the newcomers will cost, but they should be cheaper than anything similar to NVIDIA G-Sync.

Meanwhile, LG is preparing a second UDH display, a 29-inch monitor with 2560 x 1080 resolution and the same FreeSync support. Availability and pricing details are just as unknown here.
