Capcom released Ultra Street Fighter IV on the PlayStation 4 home computer yesterday, and it seems that it's not playing out all that well.

Street Fighter IV was initially released on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 back in 2009, after which Capcom kept iterating on the base formula, tweaking and improving it, until releasing the definitive Ultra Street Fighter IV edition last year.

The legendary fighting video game was ported to the PS4 by third-party studio Other Ocean Interactive, and according to several online reports, spotted by Shoryuken, things aren't going exactly smoothly.

The video game is plagued by various issues, including stuttering during gameplay, massive lag when navigating menus, input delay in online matches, and other miscellaneous glitches like weird shadows or wonky audio balancing.

Now, it's worth mentioning that Ultra Street Fighter IV's PC port was similarly messy at launch, being borderline unplayable in a competitive setting, and since then, it has gone through so many patches that now many consider it to be the best version of the title available.

USF4 on PS4 is playable, but wonky

This means that there is still hope, and Capcom and Other Ocean Interactive will most likely iron out the kinks with the video game, especially since there is a pretty big possibility that the PlayStation 4 edition of the fighting game could become the tournament standard at Capcom Pro Tour events.

Numerous community-run events also pledged to use the PS4 edition as the standard official supported version of the game, which means that there is a lot of pressure on the developer right now.

Mortal Kombat X, NetherRealm Studios' recently released fighting video game, also ran into a lot of issues on the PC platform. The port was similarly developed by a third-party contractor, and PC gamers reported a lot of problems with it.

Things are bound to get better in the future, but for the time being, if you're really competitive, you might want to stay away from the PS4 edition of USF4.
