Ultra Street Fighter 4's Decapre will be a completely new addition to the series, a clone of Cammy created by M. Bison, with a considerably different arsenal of moves and play strategy.

Visually, Decapre has a lot in common with Cammy, both as far as character models are concerned and in the animations department. Even her basic attacks will function largely similar to Cammy's, but when delving into her special moves, the consensus is that she'll be a very different brawler.

Ultra Street Fighter 4 assistant producer Tomoaki Ayano has recently revealed just why Capcom elected to pick her as the new addition to the extensive roster of fighters, especially since she is so similar to Cammy that it caused the fanbase to have a mixed reaction to what should have been a truly exciting reveal.

"The Street Fighter IV series already boasts a huge line up of popular characters from the franchise, but one thing it seemed to be missing was a presence from the Dolls, which is a group that includes popular characters like Juli and Juni. Some of the Dolls - Enero, Santamu, and even Decapre herself - make a brief appearance in the animated short we made for Super Street Fighter IV," Ayano revealed during an interview with Siliconera.

He continued by saying that the team wanted to draw the Dolls deeper into the storyline, and thus the decision to bring a Doll into the fold as a playable character was made.

"We settled on Decapre because she plays an important role in the stories of Cammy and of Shadaloo itself. When users finish Arcade mode as Decapre, they'll be treated to a substantial bit of story told in high-quality animation that delves into angles of the story that we hadn't touched on in the SFIV series until now," Ayano reveals.

Then, he said that the development team decided to make Decapre a "charge character," which means that generally playing them involves holding the stick in one direction, then quickly moving it in the opposite direction when attacking, like Chun Li and Blanka.

Ayano said that they wanted to introduce a character that newer players would be interested in, as charge characters were initially conceived as a way to bring a second style of play to users who were looking for a simpler control scheme.

"Keep in mind that [Decapre's] move set goes deeper than just charge techniques as well. She has a move called the Rapid Dagger that is executed by repeated button presses, for instance. She's actually rather easy to control and I think she'll prove to be enjoyable for users of all skill levels," Ayano concluded.

Players will have the first opportunity to try Decapre out on April 17, when Ultra Street Fighter 4 lands in Japanese arcades, before the console launch in June and the PC one in August.
