The rumor was started by the series' producer and stoked by a new controller's description

Ultra Street Fighter 4 is available in digital form for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners who wish to upgrade their Super Street Fighter 4 client, and August will bring about the PC version of the fighting game's latest update, along with the physical retail copies of the standalone console game.

However, the future might also hold some other, much more exciting news for fighting game enthusiasts, as rumor has it that Capcom is preparing to also launch the title on Sony 's next-gen console sometime in the near future.

Many players complained that Capcom missed a great opportunity to also bring one of the most popular fighting games in present time to next gen consoles along with the update, and apparently the company is playing possum for a reason.

The hints have been dropped by the recently announced Ultra Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition 2, a controller coming from gaming gear manufacturer Mad Catz. The controller is set to launch in Japan in August, coinciding with the retail disc release of USF4, and features the usual high-quality parts and snazzy background image.

The controller geared toward Sony's console is compatible with both the PS3 and PS4, which makes for an interesting point. The PlayStation 4 currently only has Injustice: Gods Among Us and Guilty Gear Xrd in the fighting game genre, making it possible that Ultra Street Fighter 4 is also making a jump to the console.

Mad Catz making such an elaborate controller themed for Ultra Street Fighter 4 compatible with the PlayStation 4 would be hard to explain otherwise, especially since the Xbox 360 edition is not compatible with the Xbox One console.

Ensuring compatibility with other fighting games that might be on the PlayStation 4 in order to broaden the controller's target audience would make sense, if the option is mirrored by the Xbox one, especially considering that the Xbox One already has a legendary exclusive brawler in the form of Killer Instinct.

Additionally, Yoshi Ono, the Street Fighter series producer, teased fans of Capcom's brawling video game that he will make an important announcement during this year's edition of the E3 convention, where a massive Ultra Street Fighter 4 is scheduled to take place.

Earlier this year, Ono also hinted at something of the sort, while thanking those who took part in a test, showing the Blanka figure that he usually uses for dropping hints next to a DualShock 4 controller.

Thankfully, the announcement or disconfirmation is bound to come very soon.
