The people over at Active Media Products have somewhat of a long history releasing some pretty unusual USB flash drives, and now, the company's back with yet another such offering, namely the FLIP, an ultra-slim, pivot style USB 2.0 flash drive. The FLIP is indeed quite easy to carry around, since it measures just around 1.8 x 0.5 x 0.3 inches (46 x 13 x 8 mm) and is, unfortunately, available just in 4GB or 8GB models, which are more or less entry-level these days.

However, what really makes this thing stand out from the crowd is the pivot style lid, that protects the drive when not in use, as well as the fact that it sports fire-orange and white racing colors, which will certainly catch one's eye, especially if the respective person happens to have somewhat of a penchant for sportsy gadgets.

Despite not packing an USB 3.0 interface (since we're talking, after all, about an entry-level product), AMP claims that their FLIP flash drive is fully compatible with USB 3.0, 2.0 and 1.1 interfaces and works with both Mac and PC systems, as well as Windows 7 / Vista / XP / 98, Linux operating systems (in other words, it's certified to work with just about any type of computer out there, as is the case with most other USB 2.0 flash drives on the market).

"The FLIP drive is designed in fire orange and white racing colors, giving it a unique look, and the drive is extremely small and ultra-slim, making it a highly portable storage device", stated Active Media Products VP of Sales, Jerry Thomson.

Despite featuring a rather unusual design, Active Media Products' FLIP pivoting USB 2.0 flash drive is actually fairly affordable, the device selling for around 12 US dollars (the 4GB model) and around 20 US dollars (the 8GB flash drive).
