Projectors have become one of the basic "weapons" from the "arsenal" required in order to carry out any presentation, especially the short-throw models, which can be used even in smaller rooms. And that's exactly the type of devices Epson has just announced, namely the EMP-400W and EMP-400We models, designed especially for the corporate and education environments.
According to IrishDev, who first picked up the news, both projectors can generate sharp and focused 60-inch pictures (1.54-meters) at just 65 cm from the projection surface. Furthermore, both models feature an Epson exclusive Twin Optimised Reflecting Lamp (E-TORL), which sports a functioning life of around 4000 hours and ensures a high level of energy efficiency, as well as bright and sharp images, by effectively eliminating light leakage and minimizing light diffraction. Additionally, they require no cool down time and incorporate Direct Power On and Off functions that allow users to switch the device off at the wall after use without waiting.
Both models offer native WXGA resolution (1280 x 800 pixels), as well as automatic 4:3 / 16:10 / 16:9 detection and resizing for increased flexibility. Moreover, they support up to 8 color modes, namely PC, photo, presentation, theatre, game, sRGB, blackboard, text, sport and come packed with a built-in 10W speaker, which is quite enough for most small/mid-sized rooms. The devices also provide some rather standard connectivity options, including here 2 PC inputs and networking adapters.
Another important feature provided by the at least one of the models, namely the EMP-400We, is that related to security. Thus, since the We version is designed especially for the education environment where the safety of electronic products is quite a serious issue. The device requires a password to be entered whenever disconnected from the mains power and can only be operated via remote control - there isn't even an on/off button on the projector. Furthermore, for additional security, the two devices even incorporate a Kensington security lock hole and security cable bar.
The two projectors retail for around 2,850 US dollars, which is a pretty average price for these things, compared to the other similar models available on the market.
