The rugged Sonim Bolt 2 XP5560 handset has just made its debut at SaskTel. The Canadian carrier has announced that the handset is now available for purchase for as low as $150 (€105) on two-year contracts.

Customers who do not wish to commit to a long-term contract can grab the Sonim Bolt 2 XP5560 for $400 (€275) outright.

Furthermore, SaskTel also offers additional pricing options for those who might be interested in acquiring the rugged phone, but can’t afford to pay the upfront amount and don’t want to be tied to a 2-year plan.

Thus, those who are really into this type of device can buy the Sonim Bolt 2 XP5560 for no less than $350 (€240) with a new one-year contract.

Specialized in rugged handsets, Sonim has built several ultra-resistant mobile phones over the last two years. None of these are smartphones, so those looking for a rugged smartphone should look elsewhere.

However, the Bolt 2 XP5560 offers Push-to-Talk capabilities and no less than 3-year guarantee. Here is what Sonim has to say about its latest ultra-rugged mobile phone:

“Handle whatever life throws at you with the remarkably durable Sonim Bolt 2. This ultra-rugged phone is desgined to survive even the toughest job sites, making it perfect for industries like construction, trucking, and farming.

“Submerge it in water, drop it on concrete, or drive over it with a pickup truck - it can handle it all. And with its push-to-talk (PTT) capabilities, you can stay connected either one-on-one or in a group.”

SaskTel lists some of the phone’s specs on its website, so we know that the Bolt 2 XP5560 comes with 256MB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 16GB via microSD memory card. In addition, the phone sports a 2-megapixel rear-facing camera and a standard 2-inch LCD display.
