When I think of Demi Moore, the first three things that come to my mind are "married to a man 15 years her junior", "plastic surgery" and "Bruce Willis' former wife" - and not much else besides that except maybe a list of some movies in which she acted a long time ago. Not surprisingly, some answers to questions regarding those three issues make up the core of an interview (with matching photo shoot) that Demi Moore did for Harper's Bazaar. And yes, she talks about her three daughters, her relationship with her much younger husband of five years and her other controversial relationship - with her ex husband Bruce Willis who, believe it or not, still has a place in this either very modern or very crazy family.
But first things first. Demi herself is famed for having spent a fortune on plastic surgery, trying hard to delay the ravages of time and keep her body as young and alluring as possible for as long as possible. Unfortunately, it hasn't helped her much in getting high profile movie parts, but still, she seems to have kept a positive attitude about it all. "Look, I would be lying if I said I don't have moments of panic when I look in the mirror and see things creeping in that weren't there before", she states. "But now I stop, and instead of focusing on my flaws, I think about all that I have in my life", Demi reveals. "I have a wonderful marriage, I have three wonderful daughters, I have an incredible extended family, and I have loving, wonderful friends".
And according to her, the direct result of her positive thinking is that "when I look back in the mirror, the reflection I see isn't so bad, because I'm seeing the beauty of my whole being and my whole life". Well, if she's being completely truthful about her attitude, then I suppose she is much more mature and down to earth than I originally imagined her to be. "I have tried to approach my life with a desire to face my own fears and insecurities, you know, to blast through my limitations and then take what I have learned and find ways to share that with others", she says. I wonder if that attitude includes her going the plastic surgery route or if she's only talking about her professional and love life.
"I looked at Ashton and thought, He's 25 [he's now 30]; it's a lot to ask", she says, referring to the moment she considered introducing her second husband to her three young daughters. "Being with me isn't about just being in a relationship with me; it's about someone stepping into a situation where there is already a huge level of responsibility". Yes, well, I wouldn't call having to see Bruce Willis every day a "huge responsibility", but I suppose Ashton wouldn't have stuck around for so long if things hadn't ultimately worked out. On a different yet related topic, how do you think a reality show featuring these people would do in the ratings? 'Cause I'd really like to be a fly on the wall when Demi, Ashton, the girls and Bruce all get together for a holiday. Now that would be something worth seeing.
