It's a USB 3.0 storage device with up to 64 GB capacity and 130 MB/s speed

You might have thought that the USB 3.0 portable HDD from Apacer was fast, with its 110/105 MB/s read/write speed, but SanDisk has just released a flash drive that moves faster at just 64 GB of storage, instead of 2 TB.

Then again, to be fair, NAND Flash storage technology is naturally faster than magnetic platters used by HDDs.

Anyway, the new flash drive has a transfer speed of 130 MB/s over USB 3.0 cables, which means that a full movie can be transferred in 40 seconds or so.

That's the read speed though, meaning that the transfer from PC to drive might not go as fast as from drive to PC. Write speed always depends on capacity, and there are three options here: 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB.

It's not clear if the 64 GB unit manages to reach 130 MB/s when writing. Probably not, especially given the 128-bit encryption. It should still manage around 100 though.

The SanDisk Ultra Fit USB 3.0 Flash Drives should be up for sale at $39.99 / €39.99 (16 GB), $69.99 / €69.99 (€69.99), and $109.99 / €109.99 (64 GB). You'll probably notice it quickly, both on SanDisk's official website and at retailers. The design, compact though it is, is pretty distinctive, with that glossy outer shell and front cap.
