Gaming peripherals manufacturer SteelSeries is widely known for its pretty expensive professional hardware, and the new 7G gaming keyboard is no exception to the rule. The new device is built with 18-karat gold-plated mechanical switches, and is rated for about 50 million key presses.

According to the manufacturer, the SteelSeries 7G keyboard allows gamers to take advantage of multiple key combinations and increase their Actions Per Minute ratings. Moreover, the state-of-the art underlying circuitry removes the ghosting effect that usually appears when multiple keys are pressed simultaneously.

The keyboard continues to work without blocking even if all the keycaps on it are pressed at the same time. This feature is extremely important especially for gamers engaged in a first-person-shooter, since it lets them crouch, aim, fire and perform other tasks at the same time.

"Professional gamers demand top quality equipment that provides durability and quicker response times", said Bruce Hawver, CEO of SteelSeries. "The time that we've invested into working with literally hundreds of gamers to design the SteelSeries 7G keyboard has resulted in a device that will truly change the way you play, limiting gamers only by their skill level - not their equipment", he continued.

The pure gold keyboard contacts deliver blazing fast response times, as compared to a conventional unit. Furthermore, the specially crafted switches dramatically increase the keyboard's lifespan, and are rated for 50 million presses (as compared to maximum 5 million key presses for a conventional keyboard).

The keyboard comes equipped with audio connectors and two USB ports that allow the user to comfortably connect pen drives, portable MP3 players or other consumer electronics devices compatible with the USB standard.

SteelSeries' 7G keyboard is entirely built of long-lasting infused plastic that offers a smooth tactile response when pressing the keys. However, this professional piece of hardware comes with an estimative price tag of $149.99.
