Now that Ubuntu 10.10 has been released, a big number of Linux distributions are now based on it. Ultimate Edition 2.8 makes no exception, as it was built off Ubuntu 10.10.

Ultimate Edition 2.8 is an Ubuntu 10.10 based release that comes with many updates and upgrades, as well as 12 new applications. Ultimate Edition 2.8 also bundles proprietary drivers, to get things running out-of-the-box, and plenty of packages for the power users.

If you like flashy themes, as many Compiz effects as your graphics card can handle, and having everything plus the kitchen sink pre-installed, then Ultimate Edition 2.8 is the Linux distribution for you.

"The software you have came to love with previous editions of Ultimate Edition has been also pre-installed along with 12 new ones. I must apologize, at the time of building Cinelerra & wine-doors were currently broken and did not make the cut."

"I have included a new enhanced, color and font selectable Conky script I wrote, that will generate as per computer. [...] This script will be in your home folder when installed (your choice to run it or not). The script is commented if you wish to learn." - said TheeMahn in the official release announcement.

About Ultimate Edition

Created by TheeMahn, Ultimate Edition is a Linux distribution based on the popular Ubuntu operating system. It comes bundled with a lot more apps and tools than Ubuntu and it also has a very unique and somewhat over-the-top visual style.

Ultimate Edition was previously known as Ubuntu Ultimate, but started life as Ubuntu Christmas Edition. There is also a specialized version, the Ultimate Edition Gamers, which includes all the applications from the Ultimate Edition and many Linux games.
