14 DAY TRIAL // The father of all RPGs and the first true 3D game, Ultima Underworld is about to get revived by the original team that created it. Paul Neurath one of the masterminds behind Ultima Underworld is now trying to continue the saga that took place underground in the “Stygian Abyss.”
The name of the project, as many probably know by now since word on the Kickstarter campaign got out a few days ago, is Underworld Ascendant and it plans to offer an even more amazing gameplay experience to RPG fans.
The game will feature three classes, Fighter, Thief and Mage, as well as three factions that fight for supremacy in the underworld: Dark Elves, Dwarves, and Shamblers.
Players will take the role of the Avatar, a human newly arrived from our earth through a mystical Rune Game. Dropped in a world of darkness, you will have to join one of the factions, but keep in mind that your choices will determine the fate of the Stygian Abyss.
The Improvisation Engine will power Underworld Ascendant
Underworld Ascendant will be based on the Improvisation Engine, which was invented in large part by the team at OtherSide when they were working on Ultima Underworld (under a different company name, Looking Glass).
The game will feature solid combat and magic systems, as well as a wide range of weapons, armors and various other items. You will be able to create your own character class by mixing skills and perks from all three classes present in the game: Fighter, Thief and Mage.
