Representatives of Uganda’s National Information Technology Authority have revealed that they plan on enhancing cyber security measures to ensure that hackers are prevented from breaching websites.

The announcement comes after Anonymous hacktivists breached the site of the country’s Prime Minister and posted a fake article in which Amama Mbabazi apologized for his attitude towards the LGBT community.

“Our first priority is to apply all necessary resources to give all institutions, the tools, processes and support they require to strengthen the security of their IT systems in case of any incident,” reads the statement issued by the Information Technology Authority.

Anonymous’ actions, on the other hand, are a response to the re-introduction to parliament of a legislation that seeks harsh punishment for gays, Kenya’s CapitalFM News reports.
