Ubuntu Weekly Report: 6th - 12th April, 2008

Ubuntu 8.04 LTS is now in final freeze and there are just a few days 'till the Release Candidate version. "During the freeze, all uploads to main must be approved by a member of the release team, so if you have fixes

that are important to get in and will need discussion, please do get in touch as soon as possible. Uploads to main should at this point focus on release-critical bugs only."

The Ubuntu Brainstorm website has been updated this week and it includes the following changes/new features:

• Now, the implemented ideas will be classified by release;
• Many are unhappy with the current duplicate handling system. That's also our perception: the duplicate system is fine, but not sufficient: there should be a way to group similar, but not duplicate ideas;
• Contacting us will now be easier: A "contact us" link has been added on the footer of the Brainstorm website, and very soon, a mailing list will be added as well.

In no more than 10 days from today, 14 April 2008, the final release of the Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (codename Hardy Heron) will be available worldwide!

Now, let's move on to the security updates and fixes for all the Ubuntu releases. First, the common security updates:

• [USN-599-1] Ghostscript vulnerability
• [USN-600-1] rsync vulnerability

The updates for Ubuntu 6.06 LTS are:

• gs-esp 8.15.2.dfsg.0ubuntu1
• gs-gpl 8.15-4ubuntu3.1

Next, the updates for Ubuntu 6.10:

• gs-esp 8.15.2.dfsg.0ubuntu1
• gs-gpl 8.50-1.1ubuntu1.2

Here are the updates for Ubuntu 7.04:

• opera 9.27-20080331.6fesity1
• gs-esp 8.15.4.dfsg.1-0ubuntu1.1
• gs-gpl 8.54.dfsg.1-5ubuntu0.2
• rsync 2.6.9-3ubuntu1.2

And finally, the updates for Ubuntu 7.10 are:

• ghostscript 8.61.dfsg.1~svn8187
• flashplugin-nonfree 9.0.124.0ubuntu1
• rsync 2.6.9-5ubuntu1.1
