This week we will talk about the UbuntuWire Community Network project, a place where community developed applications, especially those that end up in the Universe and Multiverse repositories, can be hosted and supported, for free of course! The UbuntuWire Community Network is a place where you, the developer, can share simple scripts, interesting data files or any other information that will help in making Ubuntu a much better operating system. Your access to these resources will not be restricted in any way; in fact, you'll gain access to automated Quality Assurance scripts. Moreover, there is available a customized Google search that will cover the Ubuntu Wiki, Ubuntu forums and the Launchpad. UbuntuWire Community Network will also include REVU, the package checking tool, for new and MOTU (Masters of the Universe) developers. You can read more about UbuntuWire
Community Network, here.

A Merry Ubuntu Christmas

Philip Newborough came up with a Christmas idea, concerning Ubuntu and ShipIt, for all the people who try to find a nice Christmas gift this year. He thought that all the people who have a "Countdown to Gutsy" script on their blogs and websites, should replace it with a "Ubuntu Christmas Gift" one! Now ain't that nice, people? So go and replace your old "Countdown to Gutsy" script with this very nice one right now from this website.

Let's move on to the updates and fixes for Ubuntu 7.10 release only, because there were no updates for 6.06 LTS, 6.10 and 7.04 versions this week. As usual, here's some important common security update:

■ [USN-539-1] CUPS vulnerability

And here are the updates for Ubuntu 7.10:

■ cryptsetup 2:1.0.5-2ubuntu2.1
■ network-manager 0.6.5-0ubuntu16.7.10.0
■ qt4-x11 4.3.2-0ubuntu3.1
■ rutilt 0.15-0ubuntu5.1
■ logcheck 1.2.61ubuntu0.1
■ dates 0.4.3-1ubuntu2.1
