Last week was full of events for the Ubuntu community: the freezing of the Gutsy archive, a countdown script for websites, the release of UbuntuBolivia by the Bolivian LoCo Team and a lot more!
Gutsy's Archive is FrozenThe archive for the upcoming Gutsy release has been frozen and only uploads that fix specific release-relevant bugs will be accepted until the official release.
The Countdown Script for GutsyA countdown script created by Matthew Nuzum was added on the
Ubuntu.com homepage. The script can be added to a website by copying the code from
here and pasting it on your site. Each day the image will change, showing the remaining days until the release. Also, you will have the freedom to modify the image as you like.
UbuntuBolivia - a Bolivian Flavor of UbuntuThe Bolivian LoCo team, in collaboration with 7th
Bolivia's Free Software National Congress have created a custom edition of Ubuntu called
"Ubuntu Bolivia". The distribution of 1000 packs with a hardcover including two CDs and "Powered by" stickers will begin this week.
The
persons targeted by this distribution are those who don't have an Internet connection, so they can enjoy a complete Ubuntu system. The packs contain a Live CD and installer plus an add-on CD with additional software. The next version will be based on Gutsy Gibbon and will include native language support for quechua, aymara and guarani.
