Well,
Ubuntu Open Week ended on Saturday and we can say that it was another success. I personally attended some of the sessions and it was a pleasure to talk to the Ubuntu developers and receive interesting and helpful answers to some of my questions regarding different aspects of the Ubuntu operating system. My biggest disappointment was that I've missed the "Ask Mark" (with Mark Shuttleworth, the Ubuntu Project founder)
session, as it was rescheduled for a different hour at the last moment. However, if you missed the conversions that you were particularly interested in, you can read the logs for each discussion by clicking on the session at the official
Ubuntu Open Week page.
On Thursday, version 1.2.4 of the popular
Launchpad was released, containing the following changes over previous versions:
the ability to build PPA packages for multiple series and copy packages from one PPA to another;
a new design for project code overview pages;
an easier way for casual contributors to post to mailing lists.
In the end, we would like to inform you that the
Intrepid Ibex (aka Ubuntu 8.10) release schedule was made available and you can view it
here.
Now, let's move on to the security updates and fixes for all the Ubuntu releases. First, the common security updates:
