A lot has happened in the Ubuntu world this week! Let's start with the first alpha release of Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (codename Hardy Heron) which has been delayed for two days and it hit the download mirrors worldwide on the 1st of December. Not much to see in this first alpha as it contains minor changes, but you can take a look at our exclusive screenshot tour!

Because of a growing trend in offering dangerous commands to new and inexperienced Ubuntu users on Ubuntu forums, we've gathered some of those malicious commands that you should NOT execute in your Ubuntu OS!

Great news for Ubuntu developers, as Canonical released a new Software Collaboration Service called PPAon the 26th of November . PPA has been added to Canonical's Launchpad development web site, in order to allow groups to collaborate on packages, as well to allow individual developers to post their own versions of open source software. Thanks to PPA, developers can now upload software packages to an account and collaborate with other people on it. A
maximum of 1 GB file storage is offered to every user, but it must be used only for free software projects.

Now, let's move on to the security updates and fixes for all the Ubuntu releases. The common security updates are:

[USN-545-1] link-grammar vulnerability
[USN-546-1] Firefox vulnerabilities
[USN-547-1] PCRE vulnerabilities
[USN-548-1] Pidgin vulnerability
[USN-549-1] PHP vulnerabilities

Here are the updates for Ubuntu 7.04:

■ drupal 5.1-0ubuntu2.2
