Ubuntu Developer Summit for Version 8.04 starts today and it will end on Friday. UDS will take place in Boston, Massachusetts. This summit has the goal of shaping the next release of Ubuntu, Hardy Heron 8.04. It's also opened to the public, but it is not a conference, exhibition or other audience-oriented event.

Ubuntu Open Week has ended and it was a lot of fun! I have personally participated in the Kubuntu, Ask Mark and Desktop Team sessions and I can say that I've learned a lot of interesting things about Ubuntu and not only. You can check out the logs here.

Launchpad 1.1.10 was released and it brings new features such as:

? Faster translations imports: more efficient import process to avoid queues at busy times. ? New badges in branch listings: highlight mirroring errors and branches that have blueprint links. ? Create FAQs from solved as well as open questions. ? Easier sprint admin: meeting organizers can now download a CSV file of attendee details. ? Adding a bug watch now checks for dupes: Launchpad will show all bugs that share a bug watch. Ideal for finding duplicate reports. ? File downloads: product and series owners can now add downloadable files to a project. ? PPA packages are now overridden to the main component and can be built against all Ubuntu components.

Pintas from Protech has agreed to give me an interview on topics related to his distribution; you can read this interview here. Protech is a very nice Ubuntu based distribution created for security professionals, programmers and why not... for the general public.

Fluxbuntu 7.10 released candidate was made available for the general public. Fluxbuntu was created for the users who wish to utilize the massively popular and versatile Ubuntu distribution base while minimizing the impact on their system's resources. I have installed it on my computer and it works quite well. Being based on Gutsy Gibbon it also supports encrypted installations!

Also, we expect Dell to ship Ubuntu 7.10 on their special selected desktops and laptops, soon!
