I'll start this first article of 2008 by wishing to all our readers a Happy New Year and may all your dreams come true in 2008! And don't forget to check our website for hot new articles!

Let's start the weekly newsletter, which is in fact the one for the last week of 2007, by letting you know that Dell updated their Inspiron 530N desktop and Inspiron 1420N notebook PCs with the latest and greatest version of Ubuntu (7.10 aka Gutsy Gibbon). Also, another important thing to mention is that those systems come now pre-installed with DVD movie playback.

Ubuntu 8.04 Alpha 2 LTS brings you PulseAudio and some other brand new technologies, so check it out right now from here.

If you are a mad gamer, you should check out our How to Play Half-Life 2 on Ubuntu guide, which will teach you how to install The Orange Box from Valve Software on Ubuntu 7.10!

Last but not least, a sad news (for some) this time, as Kubuntu 8.04 will not be a LTS release because of the delayed release of KDE 4.

Launchpad 1.1.12 has been the last version of 2007 and includes the following changes:

■ Project announcements: get the latest news from a project or distribution directly on its Launchpad overview page. Or, subscribe to its Atom feed. ■ Bug feeds: subscribe to an Atom feed of all the bugs related to any distribution, project, team and person in Launchpad. Also subscribe to individual bugs. ■ Higher quality bug reports: if you're a project owner, you can now ask Launchpad to display your bug reporting guidelines to people who file bugs against your project. ■ Launchpad is running Bazaar 1.0.0. Congratulations to the Bazaar team on this new release!
