Ubuntu Tweak is an amazing application that can be used to manage features of Ubuntu operating systems, but the developer has chosen to stop the development, without further explanations.

Just after the launch of Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal), Ding Zhou, the developer of Ubuntu Tweak has announced that all development has stopped, leaving no clue about a possible continuation.

The announcement is even more mysterious because the last version released, 0.8.0, introduced a great feature, called Apps, which proved to be a great alternative to Ubuntu Software Center.

“You may ask why I made this decision to stop the development of Ubuntu Tweak, I may write 10,000 words to describe how I start this project, how I feel happy from this project, how I feel bad from this project…But I just want to say: If making free software is not free any more, why still doing this?” stated the developer on his blog.

The proximity of this announcement to the Ubuntu’s 12.10 launch is more than a mere coincidence, but we’ll leave the developer the task of revealing the real motive.
