The Ubuntu developers have been trying to promote a stable image for some time

Ubuntu Touch is the main focus of Canonical for this development cycle and it is working hard to fix and implement new features.

The last couple of weeks have been very difficult for the Ubuntu developers. A number of bugs have prevented them from promoting a stable release, but at the same time they are also adding more features.

For example, the latest mediascanner version (without grilo support) has been added, a new and better version of Friends has been implemented, support has been added in HUD to quit apps (only for backend for now), a number of Qt fixes have been added, and the icon theme has received a few tweaks.

Also, the dialer app is just about to get a lot better with a new much-needed function, which is call holding.

Canonical performs a series of automated and manual tests (thank you Alan Pope for this info) that allow it to only release bug-free versions of Ubuntu Touch, as much as humanly possible.
