Ubuntu Touch is set to receive a very interesting facelift, which will be mostly observable during the swipe transitions.

Canonical has been focusing more on functions than on form, but Ubuntu Touch developers are also starting to implement some bells and whistles.

“Recently I’ve been busy working on the right edge gesture in Ubuntu Touch. Note that this is still work in progress and probably won’t hit the image really soon. If you’ve been paying attention while watching the video you might have noticed that I used Ubuntu Touch to control my living room lighting,” said Ubuntu developer Michael Zanetti.

The edge swipe effect is pretty cool, but the application manager effect is a little too similar to the one used in Windows 7. In any case, some pretty heavy updates are coming to Ubuntu Touch.
