The next software update for Ubuntu phones

Canonical, through Łukasz Zemczak, announced a few minutes ago (June 8) that the highly anticipated OTA-4 software update for the Ubuntu Touch mobile operating system might be delayed after all.

We reported last week that the Ubuntu Touch OTA-4 software update would come this week with various improvements, including a fix for the dual-sim issues, but it appears that, due to some issues with the language pack generation mechanism as well as other miscellaneous problems, the update might be delayed.

"Sadly the OTA-4 release might be once again a bit delayed. We noticed issues with our language pack generation mechanisms which do not seem to be working for our stable overlay PPA," says Łukasz Zemczak. "We also had some other problems popping up here and there, with a few additional fixes being required."

However, the good news is that the Ubuntu Touch developers managed to opened up the Vivid (Ubuntu 15.04) overlay landing gates and that the current OTA-4 Release Candidate version has been snapshotted. We will keep you informed about a release date for the Ubuntu Touch OTA-4 software update as soon as we know more.
