The Ubuntu Carrier Advisory Group has just received another important member, China Unicom, which takes the number to 12.

Canonical has set a so-called “Ubuntu Carrier Advisory Group” in order to gain some traction for its Ubuntu Touch OS. The companies who are part of this group are participating in the development of the operating system.

“Ubuntu can be an exciting new platform for the Chinese market, offering a brand new user experience that balances user simplicity with operator requirements,” stated Li Xingxin from China Unicom’s terminal research and support center.

Canonical has invited multiple other carries to join the “Ubuntu Carrier Advisory Group”: Deutsche Telekom, LG UPlus, Portugal Telecom, Everything Everywhere, Telecom Italia, SK Telecom, China Unicom, Smartfren, Korea Telecom, and a few unnamed others.

More details about this joint effort can be found on the official website.
