14 DAY TRIAL // Shortly after the Ubuntu 14.04 announcement that marked the start of development for the next operating system from Canonical, Ubuntu Touch is now also based on the Trusty Tahr image.
The company will continue to develop Ubuntu Touch alongside the desktop version, and what better way to do it than to base them on the same images – in this case for 14.04 Trusty Tahr.
“Trusty image 3 (20131022.1) is now available via the trusty channel. We don't currently support OTA updates from saucy to trusty, so you'll need to update via a cable,” stated Canonical's Alan Pope.
To install it you just have to enter the following command:
phablet-flash ubuntu-system --channel trusty
After the installation is finished, OTA updates will be again made available for your phone. There is a catch though: you will lose all installed apps. The data from /home/phablet should be safe.
Keep in mind that unlike 13.10, which is a stable version, 14.04 is far from stable and you will certainly encounter more problems than usual.
