The developers have encountered some problems, but things should get moving again

Ubuntu for phones and tablets has confronted with a number of blockers in the development, but that hasn't stopped its makers from implementing new features and fixing some bugs.

Ubuntu developers have had some problems with the tests they were performing on the new Touch images and they managed to soft-brick a number of Nexus devices. It seems that the problem has been resolved now.

“New blockers today, some progress on older blockers, 3 images kicked over the week-end, and finally get again full test image results! AP tests results showed 2 test failing (which is really nice knowing that we advanced semi-bindly with manual coverage): one test failing every time (Unity8, fixed by now) and a new flaky one (dialer-app),” said Canonical's Didier Roche.

A number of important changes and fixes have landed in the last three images. None of them has been deemed stable enough for promotion. For example, the alarm got a few fixes, time zone support has been added in the organizer library, all latest scopes API changes have been added, a few boot improvements have been implemented, and a new version of the calendar app has been promoted.

Ubuntu developers have a series of automated and manual tests in place that allow them to scan for problems before releasing an image to the public. It makes the release process a lot faster, which is actually good news for the end user.
