The Ubuntu Touch platform is getting closer to a release on the market, and some very interesting applications are making their way into the Ubuntu Store, like this drone control app.

The drones are really starting to take off (see what I did there) as a business, and regular people can now afford them. They are no longer a luxury item or a thing of the future, the drones are here now, and it looks like you can control some of them with Ubuntu Touch.

Ubuntu developer Alan Pope shared with the Google+ community one of the latest applications submitted to the Ubuntu Store. It’s called Dronefly and it’s used to control AR Drones, which are a very popular and funky-looking kind of drones.

To make thinks more interesting, the drones can be controlled with the phone, and now Ubuntu Touch is one of the operating systems that can do the job or at least it has an app that can do it. The app is not yet finished, and the user doesn't have camera control, but things are coming along.

For now, the only supported devices are Nexus 4 and Nexus 7, if you want to test Ubuntu for phones, but that might change in the coming months.
