Canonical announced earlier today the Ubuntu OS for tablets!

Canonical was proud to announced earlier today, February 19, that they are planning to release a modified version of the Ubuntu operating system, for tablets.

Called “Ubuntu on tablets,” the yet to be released operating system will give users a modern and polished, yet classy tablet experience.

You can read more about Ubuntu on tablets in the official announcement or watch the video above, but in this article we’re listing the hardware requirements for this new mobile operating system powered by Ubuntu:

For entry level consumer Ubuntu tablet:

• Dual-core Cortex A15 CPU • 2GB memory preferred • 8GB flash storage minimum • 7-10 inch screen size • 4 fingers multi-touch • Full desktop convergence is not supported

For high-end Ubuntu enterprise tablet:

• Quad-core A15 or Intel x86 CPU • 4GB memory preferred • 8GB flash storage minimum • 10-12 inch screen size • 4-10 fingers multi-touch • Full desktop convergence is supported.
