Download Ubuntu 15.04 for servers from Canonical

Canonical had the pleasure of announcing the release of the Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) operating system, as well as its numerous flavors, including Ubuntu Server 15.04, Kubuntu 15.04, Xubuntu 15.04, Lubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu MATE 15.04, Ubuntu Studio 15.04, Ubuntu Kylin 15.04, and Ubuntu GNOME 15.04.

The Ubuntu Server 15.04 edition of Vivid Vervet is one of the main stars of this release, as it includes some of the latest and greatest Linux technologies for running Ubuntu on dedicated servers and in the cloud. It is also the first Ubuntu Server release to feature LXD, a fast, scalable, and reliable tool for managing system containers across the network.

Highlights of Ubuntu Server 15.04 include the entire OpenStack 2015.1 suite, which comprises Keystone - OpenStack Identity, Glance - OpenStack Imaging, Cinder - OpenStack Block Storage, Neutron - OpenStack Networking, Ceilometer - OpenStack Telemetry, Heat - OpenStack Orchestration, Horizon - OpenStack Dashboard, and Swift - OpenStack Object Storage.

The Nova Compute driver for LXD is also included, as well as version 1.1.2 of the LXC container manager, which brings full systemd support, Open vSwitch support, a new helper filesystem called LXCFS, CGManager 0.36 LXC CGroup manager, and support for qcow2 backed containers.

Latest versions of Juju, libvirt, QEMU, and Ceph are included

As expected, Ubuntu Server 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) includes the latest versions of its core components, among which we can mention Juju 1.20.10 service orchestration tool, libvirt 1.2.12 virtualization library, QEMU 2.2 virtualization software, Open vSwitch 2.3.1 multilayer virtual switch, and Ceph 0.94.1 distributed object store and file system.

In addition, the cloud-init 0.7.7 tool for handling early initialization of a cloud instance, Docker 1.5.0 open source software that automates the deployment of applications inside software containers, Corosync 2.3.4, HAProxy 1.5.0, and Pacemaker 1.1.12 are also included in the new Ubuntu Server release.
