Canonical has just announced that Ubuntu Server has reached version 12.04 LTS, along with Ubuntu 12.04, Xubuntu 12.04, and Kubuntu 12.04.

Ubuntu Server 12.04 (Precise Pangolin) is an important milestone for Canonical, mainly because it's aimed at businesses and because it was recently cettified by HP.

Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS is shipping with the latest version of OpenStack Essex. It also features Keystone, an OpenStack project that provides Identity, Token, Catalog and Policy services; OpenMPI 1.5 for ARM; and several improvements to machine deployment orchestration.

Other changes include the removal of Chef 0.8.16 and corresponding Ohai packages at the request of OpsCode, the introduction of “acpid” to both Server and Cloud images by default, and KVM, the virtualization solution, is now at version 1.0.
