System rescue Linux distribution based on Ubuntu 11.10

Andrew Zajac proudly announced yesterday, October 13th, the immediate availability for download of the Ubuntu Rescue Remix 11.10 operating system, now based on Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot).

Ubuntu Rescue Remix 11.10 is a rescue and computer forensics Linux distro. Among various improvements and bugfixes, the new Ubuntu Rescue Remix 11.10 has lots of updated packages and an up-to-date infrastructure.

Ubuntu Rescue Remix 11.10 includes up-to-date free/libre and open source data recovery applications, such as GNU ddrescue, The Sleuth Kit, Gnu-fdisk and Photorec.

Ubuntu Rescue Remix 11.10 can be installed on any existing Ubuntu 11.10 installation. All you have to do is to add the following line in your repositories:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/arzajac/ppa/ubuntu oneiric main

You'll also have to authenticate the source by running the following command in a terminal:

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys BDFD6D77
