Canonical updated the AFPL Ghostscript packages, an interpreter for the PostScript language and for PDF, for the Ubuntu 10.10, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, and Ubuntu 8.04 LTS OSes.

It was discovered that Ghostscript did not correctly handle memory allocation when parsing certain malformed JPEG-2000 images, did not correctly handle certain formatting operations when parsing JPEG-2000 images, and incorrectly handled certain malformed TrueType fonts.

The problems can be easily resolved by updating your Ubuntu distribution(s) with the new versions of AFPL Ghostscrip, using the Update Manager utility. In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes.

More details can be found on today's Ubuntu Security Notice USN-1317-1 announcement for AFPL Ghostscrip.

However the latest version of the AFPL Ghostscrip is 9.04.1 and can be downloaded right now from Softpedia.
