The Ubuntu Edge project has been launched for a while now and Canonical is trying to raise the necessary funds on IndieGoGo, but new details have surfaced about the project.

Canonical has listed all the technical specifications for the Ubuntu Edge phone on the IndieGoGo website, but some important information has been omitted.

The Ubuntu Edge phone will allow dual-boot between Android and Ubuntu OS, but users have been wondering if they will be able to tinker with this bootloader. For some unknown reason, Canonical hasn’t listed this important feature on its IndieGoGo website.

According to the developers from Ubuntu for Android, which shared this piece of information in an AMA (ask me anything) session on Reddit, “Ubuntu Edge will not be bootloader locked, nor carrier locked.”

This is actually great news for users who like to install various operating systems on their own devices, and we hope that Ubuntu Edge will be a successful project.

Ubuntu Edge is a phone developed by Canonical that features some interesting hardware specifications. More details about the price and the campaign can be found in our initial report.
