This is not something new, but it will help clear some of the confusion that might arise

Many Ubuntu GNOME users will be wondering why the new 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) doesn't ship with the new GNOME 3.12, and the developers have thought of addressing this problem in advance.

Ubuntu GNOME has gathered quite a following, even if this flavor only recently joined the ranks of official Ubuntu flavors. Many users eagerly await its release, but they will surely be disappointed to find out that it won't ship with the fresh GNOME 3.12.

The problem is that an upgrade of that magnitude is very hard to implement. When you're dealing with so many packages, you are going to have a lot of problems on your hands, with conflicts, bugs, dependencies, and a gazillion of unforeseen issues.

The GNOME developers have explained on their website that, even if GNOME was just launched, Ubuntu GNOME has been in feature freeze since February 20. No new packages have been added for a long time, and everything now is about bug fixes.

Fortunately, the Ubuntu GNOME developers have a PPA where the latest GNOME 3.12 will be available for upgrade soon. It won't be something officially supported and you might encounter some problems, but at least you will be able to use it, preferably after the official launch.

Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) is expected to arrive on April 17.
