Following the Linux Mint “vulnerability” controversy, the Ubuntu developer who made the original statements, Oliver Grawert, responded on his blog.

Both Clement Lefebvre, the creator of Linux Mint, and Oliver Grawert, the Ubuntu developer, have said that the subject had been blown out of proportion, but the truth is that it showed regular users that Linux systems were not as secure as they thought.

Oliver Grawert has reiterated that the statements he made about the fact that Linux Mint was not pushing some Ubuntu security updates, making the system a little bit more vulnerable than it currently is, are his own opiniond and they don't reflect Canonical's viewpoint.

Moreover, Oliver also expressed his pride in the fact that other people are using his work on Ubuntu to base their distributions on, and that all of them are actually an important part in the Ubuntu ecosystem.

You can check his blog post for more details about this matter, but as it stands right now, it seems that this whole controversy might make the two development teams, from Canonical and Linux Mint, work closely together in order to fix the underlying problem with the security updates.
