Surprisingly, Canonical is not involved in this project

There are a ton of community projects for Ubuntu Touch, and some of them are really interesting, like the upcoming Unity Tweak app that is being built right now by a developer.

Ubuntu users know that the operating system and the desktop environment can be tweaked in a large number of ways, but the same can't be said about the mobile versions. It's also true that the community doesn't have a whole lot of experience with this new system, but that is slowly changing.

Developer Stefano Verzegnassi posted an update on Google+ about an upcoming application called UT Tweak Tool that will allow users to change some of the settings for the Unity desktop environment on the mobile devices. It's also reasonable to assume that some of those options might also land on the desktop flavor of Unity 8, once that is made available.

The Ubuntu community is hard at work

The UT Tweak Tool is even more impressive since this is not done by Canonical. The Ubuntu community has proved to be a valuable resource over the years, and some of the best tools for the operating system developed by Canonical have come from it.

For now, the developers are still working on UT Tweak Tool, and it will be a while until it's ready, but it promises to be one of the most complex apps made so far by third-party developers.

Ubuntu launched on Bq phones a while ago, but they are only sold through flash sales and not in stores. That's understandable since the platform is still young, and it needs a lot of tweaks before it's ready for the major leagues.

It's also possible to have Ubuntu Touch installed on Nexus 4 devices, but it's getting increasingly hard to get a hold of them since they are no longer in production.
