We put together a collection of screenshots from the OS

Ubuntu 15.04 is not visually distinct from its 14.10 predecessor, but there are some changes that really warrant an upgrade, especially if the user is coming from a non-LTS version. We have prepared a screenshot tour that should shed some light on certain changes made by Canonical in this latest release.

Now that Ubuntu 15.04 has been officially released, we can take a closer look at this new operating system and check out what Canonical has done with it. As you will be able to see from the screenshot tour posted below, there are some important upgrades, although the most important of all, the replacement of Upstart with Systemd, cannot be observed in a screenshot.

Ubuntu is the most used Linux operating system so many users are going to get that nice upgrade dialog, unless they are running an LTS version, in which case they will need to make some small modifications. It's also good to know that some of the modifications made to Ubuntu 15.04 have been backported to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS as well.

Screenshots don't do it justice

Usually, screenshots are enough to reflect correctly the quality of a Linux distribution, but in Ubuntu’s situation, that's not the case. Canonical is doing some great work with the OS and users will find that it's a lot faster than it used to be, which is always a good thing. Also, the visual changes, like the improved animations for various actions, won't be visible unless you actually run it.

We have detailed this release in the original report, and you will find more details there. We are also working on a review for Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet), so don't forget to check the review section for a complete deconstruction of the operating system. Also, make sure you check out our blog entry regarding the official download links for all the flavors in the Ubuntu family.
