A new contest has just started for the Utopic Unicorn

The Ubuntu 14.10 development cycle is powering on, despite the lack of any interesting news from the Utopic Unicorn front. Now, the developers are looking to complete their collection of wallpapers with submissions from the community.

A few months before the release of a new Ubuntu version, the developers ask the community to contribute with unique and interesting wallpapers. The winners of the competition will get their work included in the upcoming operating system.

“As many of you will already know, each release we include photos and illustrations produced by community members. We ask that you submit your images using free photo sharing site Flickr and that you limit your images this time to 2. The group won’t let you submit more than that but if you change your mind after you’ve submitted, fear not, simply remove one and it’ll let you add another,” says Iain Farrell, one of the members of the Ubuntu Design team.

As you can expect, a few people will likely try to submit images that are not theirs, but that's just a fact of life. The developers have set some ground rules, but the only major one is the resolution, which should be 2560 x 1600.

Ubuntu 14.10 (Utopic Unicorn) is expected to arrive on October 23, but the deadline for the submission of images is October 9.
