More details have been shared by Canonical regarding the development of Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) and about the packages that are going to be included.

Ubuntu 14.04 will bring a lot of interesting new features, but it's also nice to see that some of the packages will also get updated.

According to Canonical's Sebastien Bacher, Ubuntu 14.04 will be using GLib 2.40 (although the latest version now tested is 2.39), and WebKitGtk has been upgraded to version 2.3.1.

One of the most important changes that will probably come to pass is the update to GTK 3.10. The initial target for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS was the 3.8 version, but it seems that the developers will be able to switch to 3.10 by the end of the cycle.

Of course, a number of problems are still present, as Sebastien explains in the mailing list, but there are still a few months of development ahead and Canonical has plenty of time to fix everything.
