Canonical has updated the Linux kernel for the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS development cycle, which is now using the 3.13 RC8 release.

Following on its promise to try to integrate the latest available Linux kernel into the upcoming Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr), Canonical is now updating it constantly with the most recent builds.

“Last week we uploaded our first v3.13 based kernel for Trusty to the archive. The most recent upload brings in a rebase to v3.13-rc8. The AppArmor regression introduced in the original upload should already have been resolved as well,” said Canonical's Joseph Salisbury.

Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) is expected to arrive on April 17, 2014. The company has already said that it is shooting for the 3.13 stable kernel, which is almost released, according to Linus Torvalds.

Given the fact that Linux kernel 3.13 could have a very short development cycle, it might be possible for Canonical to manage to get Linux kernel 3.14 into its sights for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
