Canonical has just updated the Linux kernel for the upcoming Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) to the latest stable verison, 3.10.1.

Canonical developers are well underway to reach their declared goal, to implement the 3.11 kernel by the time of the launch.

“Our master branch for Saucy has been rebased to v3.10.1 and uploaded. We have also rebased our unstable branch to begin tracking v3.11-rc1.”

“I would also like to take this time to point out that the 12.04.3 point release is approaching on Thurs Aug 22,” stated Canonical’s Joseph Salisbury.

Just update the operating system and you will get the latest version of kernel. Enter the following commands in a terminal:

sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

The Linux kernel used right now by Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) is 3.10.1.-3.
