Britt Yazel posted a couple of days ago on the unity-design team mailing list an interesting link to a YouTube video showing a mockup of Unity in Ubuntu 12.10. The video was originally posted on February, but it is a very good example of how Unity should be.

The 4 minute long video posted above will show you some very nice mockups of how Unity should look like in future versions of the Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) operating system.

The concept video made by Fredrico Mendes Araujo shows a new Dash Home that displays the main categories on the left, with the included apps, as well as the other available Lens, next to the search box.

You can also see a new Lens Files & Folders showing Places, Documents and File Sharing tabs, a new Music Lens that allows you to play music directly in the Dash, featuring a Cover Flow also, a Social Networking widget, new Unity Settings Lens that offers full control over Unity's settings.

In the video you can also see and new viewing possibilities, placing Unity on different corners of the screen.

this is a great design and user friendly as well. should your idea ever be implemented, I think ubuntu will win a lot of disgruntle users over and it will actually surpass apple UI.

I like the changes to the dash. Much easier to filter applications than with current Unity (12.04). Keep up the good work Canonical!

Thought I check up on Unity. Still not interested. Love LXDE, XFCE, Cinnamon... warming up to KDE (trying to anyway)

Very nice improvements which should be considered by Canonical ASAP.
